Terms of Service

Accounts are for family members and people close to the family, and every new account is reviewed by a family moderator before it can see anything. Accounts are for adults. Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself — your account is your identity within the family, and you're responsible for what happens under it.

When you use Puno, you agree to:

• Contribute in good faith — add information about the family you believe is accurate, and correct mistakes when you find them.
• Respect your relatives' privacy. What's in the tree is for family. Don't copy, repost, or redistribute tree content, photos, or documents outside the site, and be thoughtful about who you give share links to.
• Not scrape, bulk-download, or use automated tools to collect content from the site.
• Not impersonate anyone or claim a person in the tree who isn't you.

You keep ownership of what you contribute — your photos, stories, and words remain yours. By contributing, you give the family permission to keep, display, and preserve that material as part of the shared family record, which is stewarded by the family's moderators. Facts about the family (names, dates, relationships) belong to the family record itself and stay in the tree even if you later leave.

Proposed changes are reviewed by a moderator before they appear in the tree, and moderators may edit, decline, or remove content to keep the record accurate and respectful. Accounts that misuse the site — sharing family data outside the family, adding content in bad faith, or otherwise breaking these terms — can be suspended or removed.

Members can create links that show a limited, privacy-minimized slice of their own branch to people without accounts. Anyone with such a link can view what it shows, so treat it like a house key: share it only with people you trust, and revoke it when it's no longer needed.

Puno is a volunteer-run family project, provided as-is and free of charge. We work to keep it accurate, available, and backed up, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or online, and we aren't liable for losses that come from using it or from relying on information in the tree. The service may change, or eventually wind down; if it does, reasonable efforts will be made to preserve the family record for the family.

These terms are governed by the laws that apply where the site administrator resides. Any disagreement about them should be raised — as family matters are — with the family first.

If these terms change, we'll update this page and its effective date, and let members know in the app about anything significant. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
